Specular Microscope

Specular microscopy is a noninvasive diagnostic tool that allows for in vivo evaluation of corneal endothelium in health and various diseased states. Endothelial imaging helps in the diagnosis and management of several endothelial disorders. The review focuses on the principles of specular microscopy, limitations of endothelial imaging, and its interpretation in common conditions seen in the clinical practice. A thorough PubMed search was done using the keywords specular microscopy, corneal endothelium, and endothelial imaging.

Cryo Systems

Keeler have over 40 years’ experience in offering ophthalmic cryo surgical units starting with the Amoils cryosurgical unit. Building on the exceptional reliability of its predecessors, the Cryomatic MKII delivers automation and versatility.

The Cryomatic MKII console and probes can be considered a superior treatment than using laser retinopexy for the following cases:

  • Treating peripheral retinal pathologies
  • One-step procedure for retinal detachments. Laser retinopexy on the other hand, must be performed 24-48 hours after gas injection.

Where there are obstructions within the eye limiting penetration of the laser, such as a cataract or vitreous opacity.

Ophthalmic Lenses

volk lenses

In the Volk spirit of improvement, our 3rd generation, ‘Digital Series’ BIO lenses were developed from

the previous generation BIO lenses, in a similar fashion to the Digital Series slit lamp lenses. The goal: to

deliver enhanced resolution imaging with the indirect ophthalmoscope.

Working with a high grade glass, we looked at all aspects of their double aspheric designs with ad-

vanced computer modeling techniques. We realized improvements in all aspects of the BIO lens capa-

bilities, ultimately delivering the best image quality attainable for indirect ophthalmic exams.
